On Thursday 26th and Friday 27th January 2012 Digital Business Competed in the Code Sprint hosted by U.W.I. and successfully achieved an award for second place as the team Digital One (Kristopher Maillard, Kailash Maharaj and Shawn Lewis), executed a system for small scale fisher folk in Trinidad and Tobago who are vulnerable to attacks at sea and seeking various means of reducing their risk throught development of an "At Sea Emergency Buddy System" aka "Fisherman's Friend".

The national instrument has finally taken the leap into the digital world with the help of Digital Business, a knowledge creating company, and Gill's Pan Shop. In collaboration with Pan Trinbago, Digital Business launched Digital Pan at Queen's Hall, St Ann's Thursday 17th November 2011.

Those who attended the launch of the Digital Pan App on Thursday 17th November 2011 at Queen's Hall in St Ann's, felt Trinidad and Tobago's culture is finally stepping into the digital age.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism, Jennifer Jones congrtulated Digital Business on behalf of Minister Winston Peters, on creating this latest innovation in advancing our national instrument. She added that the event marked a significant milestone in the journey of the pan noting that our national instrument has arrived in the digital age.

She concluded, "In this fast paced world, I am pleased to see that the steelpan can keep abreast of technology and serve the needs of its lovers in the busy world in which we live".

Digital Business has launched its new Diwali Deeya Mobile App just in time for the season of Diwali. Diwali comes from the word Deepavali which is Sanskrit for a row of lights. It is one of the most popular festivals celebrated by Hindus everywhere on the darkest night of the year which falls between the months of October to November. On the night of Diwali, thousands of deeyas (little earthen lamps) are lit to signify light over darkness. The Diwali Deeya app allows you to interact with a Diwali deeya on your phone. You can click on the screen to light the deeya as well as click on the Menu button to change the background image, change the song or change the type of deeya.
